“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”  – Matthew 25: 40

At Park Avenue UMC we take very seriously the command that Jesus gave to love our neighbors as ourselves. To fulfill this commandment, our community is involved in numerous outreach and mission projects throughout the year.

These outreach opportunities influence our immediate church, support our surrounding community, interact with our global United Methodist Church and provide long-term connections for all ages.

Saturday Community Lunch Program

Saturday Community Lunch Program (SCLP) is a 20+ year partnership between PAUMC and other religious communities on the Upper East Side to serve a nutritious meal to our neighbors in need. All are welcome to join us as we prepare and serve a meal to our neighbors who are hungry. Cooking begins at 11am.  The meal is served at 1pm and the shift is done by 4pm. First Saturday of Every Month.

El Nido Literacy Project

We will be partnering with Christ Church United Methodist to support their El Nido literacy project in Washington Heights and Inwood.  El Nido serves low-income families with infants and children through age 3 who are at or below the federal poverty line.  Volunteers are needed for “The Reading Corner” whose goal is to nourish the minds of young children by encouraging reading in a fun environment.  El Nido is located at 4111 Broadway between 173rd and 174th Streets.  No global language skills are needed and you are welcome to bring your family.  More information is available on El Nido’s website at http://elnidonyc.org.  Please contact Liz Sweeney, Director of Programs for Children and Families, at liz@paumcnyc.org to sign up!

Annual Rummage Sales

PAUMC hosts 2 rummage sales, one in the spring and one in the fall. Donations are excepted throughout the year (no books, please).
